(Rev21:2-3) And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God
The Church…is held as unfailingly holy, as a matter of Faith, because of Christ. Christ, His Father and the Holy Spirit Alone are Holy. Christ loved the Church as his Bride, giving himself up for her, so as to sanctify her, joined her to himself, “as his body,” and endowed her with the gift of the Holy Spirit., for the Glory of God. [CC823]
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that love his wife love himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourish and cherish it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. (Eph5:27-32)
(Eph5:25-26) Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
(Acts9:13) Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem:”
(Acts20:28) Paul speaks Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
(1Cor6:1, 16:1) Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
(Eph1:4-5)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
(Rev21:27) And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defile, neither whatsoever work abomination, or make a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
(CCC737) He (Holy Spirit) makes present the mystery of Christ supremacy in the Eucharist, in order to reconcile them to bring them into communion with God, that they “bear much fruit”. (Jn15:8, 16) Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. (CCC740) These mighty works of God offered to believers, in the sacraments of the Church, bear their fruit in the new Life of Christ, according to the Spirit. (Rom8:26) Likewise the Spirit also help our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself make intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.
Indeed having shown that the Spirit is the source and giver of all holiness, we now confess that it is he who has endowed the Church with Holiness. (Acts2:) “The Church is the place where the Holy Spirit flourishes”,St Hippolytus Tradition Ap.(CCC749). By calling itself Church (“Kyriake”) the first community of Christian believers recognized itself as heir to the assembly , in the Church, God is calling together. (Acts10:39) But if ye inquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly. (1Cor11:18) For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
United in Christ, the Church is sanctified by him; All the activities of the Church are directed as toward their end to the sanctification of men in Christ and the glorification of God. In the Church, as to the fullness of salvation, has been deposited. It is in her, through he Grace of God we acquire “holiness”. (CCC796). The church is the Bride of Christ. (Mrk2:19) Announced by the prophets and John the Baptist. (Is54:5) For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. (see also: (Jn3:22); (Is61:8-12); (Hos2:19-23). (Rev22:17) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that hear say, Come. And let him that is a thirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Christ discusses “divorce between man and woman, but it also applies to his Bride.
(Mk10:8-9) And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Mt22:2) The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
WHY NO APOSTASY POSSIBLE? Christ Betrothed His Church, (using the Mosaic Law Formula), “until death do us part”. There is not the least room for doubt.
To believe that the Church is holy and Catholic, and that She is One, and Apostolic, is inseparable from belief in the Holy Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) in the Nicene Creed we profess: One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church – (Credo Eccllesiam) Last revised; City 1/19/2019
