DIVINE JUSTICE – PURGATORY Intro [ I ]

(Preparation, Purification & Perfection of the soul to be in the presence of God) Great Apostasy of Protestant Reformation

Great Tribulation: defined – The word “tribulation” from the Greek word thlipsis (θλιψις) meaning “affliction, distress.” Middle English: via Old French from ecclesiastical Latin tribulatio (n-), from Latin tribulare ‘press, oppress’, from tribulum ‘threshing board (constructed of sharp points)’, based on terere ‘rub’. Synonym: visitation, persecution, hard time, trial, distress, suffering, cross to bear, misery, sorrow, worry…..

Purgatory our great tribulation

By this very definition, Purgatory is our great tribulation that ALL sinners may be destined to suffer, our souls suffering thus imitating Christ. . Before our soul can enter Heaven, “where nothing shall enter defiled”, and stand before the eternal presence of God. The earthly Great Tribulation that many speak of just before the 2nd coming of the Lord proceeds the Final Judgment, our souls must undergo a Spiritual &/or Physical Tribulation in Purgatory preceding entrance into heaven. The Church teaches two basic truths (dogmas) concerning Purgatory. 1) That there is a Purgatory, 2) Souls in Purgatory are part of the Suffering Church (Mystical Body of Christ) and that the Militant Church may assist in those suffrage by the faithful.

PREFACE In the City:

Originally, I thought to prove this Dogma/Doctrine try and explain with scripture. Instead, “City is taking a turn with this subject seeking three separate avenues for discussion. IMPORTANT. First the scripture evidence in the initial post, is not always crystal clear, as in OT scripture can be veiled. As Opposed to Catholic teaching, in the Eucharist and Last Supper, are taken literal, word for word. Yet, Protestantism Rationalism Theology profanes (Jn6:50-71) these clear directives that the gospel writers even provide witnesses for emphasis, we understand, but yet Sola bible Christians interpret otherwise? So why bother, re-Hashing scriptural support for the TRUTH, when it never settles their DISUNITY? Another scriptural foundational teaching, the need for Church UNITY. Christ prays an entire Chapter Jn17.  Throw in an additional 100 separate verses in scripture exhorting Unity, can hearts are be changed? Not yet? SO, I gathered the scripture verses and present them without prejudice, simply judge for yourselves. IF the scripture verses speak to and cumulatively resound into Catholic sound dogma, great. IF sufficient evidence from scripture is presented, and is consistent with Apostolic Doctrine, then you have been “edified.”

Using Sola Bible Christians’ concept of Rapture to contrast the two teachings, as an example. Sola Christians have created an entire church theology for the end times scenario called RAPTURE. This teaching relies primarily on 1 verse and possibly a second from the New Testament.(Rev3:20); 1Thes4:16-17). Even so, the Catholic Church Apostolic teaching (”Didache”), does not have a position on “Rapture”. The idea of final believers on earth being taken up on a cloud into heaven, while escaping most of the suffering for the Church Militant, may be good for the collection basket, or more wishful thinking than sound doctrine. I mention the Rapture theology, as this is a sample of others thoughts as response to Divine Justice. Direct scriptural evidence for Purgatory has a far superior foundation (that I will share), than Rapture, yet Protestantism denies the Catholic Divine Justice Teaching long held by several Church Councils, as it negatively interferes with other areas of their new religion of Protestant doctrines.

City’s second blog post on Divine Justice will lay out the Official Catholic ORTHODOXY Doctrine on Purgatory supplemented with statements taken from Early Fathers writings, centuries old from several Doctors of the Church. Once again leaving the readers to independently decide who to believe:  The Church Doctors: Pope St Gregory the Great, St. Augustine, St Thomas, St John Chrysostom, St Gertrude the Great, St. Bellarmine, St Catherine of Genoa, St Teresa etc. OR Vs. accepting the 16th century Augustinian monk’s version “that no transitory Purification is necessary!” You can decide from their words, on Our Church’s Teaching. Let me remind and warn you, that since Protestants and their revolutionary partners made cause for dispute over this teaching, the Church was compelled to produce an Official Dogmatic Doctrine in Florence and Trent, thus We the Faithful are now compelled to believe what the Church always taught, that Purgatory exists as part of the suffering Church, within the Mystical Body of Christ.

The Third blog post in this Divine Justice series will be “Purgatory in private revelations” taken from the most credible of sources. Hopefully the details, the character of the person receiving the revelations are credible for your acceptance. However, nothing in this “private revelation” are the faithful required to believe as truth. However, Our God of the living has chosen to communicate to us himself in this manner down through the ages prophets and the saints. It is simply up to you. My hope, for the reader is a change in heart and a sincere commitment to leading a more holy, sinless life going forward. As this Doctrine, Centuries Old from the Doctors teachings and through Private Revelations (Eph3:2-3) insist are worth while for you to accept this WISDOM. In this, three legged series, you will have encountered a Theologian approach (scripture), an historical approach (tradition) and a ascetic glimpse of the saints approach thus hopefully increasing your faith for and in steadfastness of the Apostles Doctrines.(Acts2:41)

The Fourth blog post provides evidence of Divine Mercy in Purgatory series using “Purgatory private revelations” taken from the most credible and investigated of sources. Hopefully the details, the character of the person receiving the revelations are credible for your acceptance. However, nothing in this “private revelation” are the faithful required to believe as truth.  In Purgatory, non-believers see this purifying stage only as cruel, inhumane for a Loving Divinity. Yet the Father must discipline his children no matter how much it pains him to do it. In this final section using private revelations will demonstrate the Mercy of Catholic dogma.  Purgatory is a spiritual reality and your belief is NOT required, for it to be FACT.

I The City’s Theological Approach:

To start, lets review (Gen 3:24), and (Gen 8:2), God tosses humanity out of the Garden – “Paradise” and sets His guards to prevent entrance at the gates with orders to protect the “Tree of Life” ( represent lost eternal life for Humanity). Adam commits 1 devastating sin in disobedience, and is condemned to a life time of labor in the desert. Heaven’s gates “paradise” are shut and closed to Humanity after Adam’s Sin and then in the days of Noe destruction, while awaiting the redeemer Jesus to be “First” in all things – Open the gates of heaven once again to God’s creatures. Jesus and Mary both are rewarded and God’s Only Begotten redeems the world. So heaven was shut up, no one can get in, until the Christ’s triumphant return.

With this in mind, I ask you, “Can any one escape Hell damnation”once admitted”? Where we are told no light exists and darkness overcomes all for eternity, souls are tormented forever.” Many admit the existence of hell, but deny the eternity of its punishment. The Holy Scripture is quite explicit in teaching the eternity of the pains of hell. The torments of the damned shall last forever and ever (Rev4:11; 19:3; & 20:10). …. beyond the possibility of doubt, the Church expressly teaches the eternity of the pains of hell as a truth of faith which no one can deny or call in question without manifest heresy. [#1033-37] So the Answer is , no one leaves Hell Aprobates damnation is permanent. So I ask, those disbelievers or doubting Thomas’ of Catholic teaching, ..”What are we to do with this Gospel verses from (Mt27:51-53)?…..and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.” Our OT Testament Saints were captives set free. Our Apostles Creed, tells us, “Jesus descends into hell and preached the good news to the souls there. This could not be the hell in complete darkness for the damned. Why would the Light be there? That would be an unjustifiable irreconcilable conflict of scriptures. So tell me, please explain why these Saints were resurrected and “set free”? ………………..What does Logic dictate?

The Saints were asleep held captive at another location, importantly their punishment “transitory”.

But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime received thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou would send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.Abraham saith unto him, “They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.” And he said, “Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.” And he said unto him, “If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.” [#1030-1]
