by, St. Bernard of Clairvaux:
Born in 1090, at Fontaines, near Dijon, France; died at Clairvaux, 21 August, 1153.
“De amore Dei” wherein St. Bernard shows that the manner of loving God is to love Him without measure and gives the different degree of this love.
“De Gratiâ et Libero Arbitrio” in which the Catholic Dogma of grace and free will is according to the principles of St Augustine.
And after the morsel, Satan entered into him. And Jesus said to him: That which thou dost, do quickly. (Jn13:27)
Now the most powerful mediation needs a spirit of COUNSEL because “If the prince of this world had known it, he would not have crucified the Lord of glory” (1Cor2:8). But the son of God hid His glory if divinity, revealing only the weakness of the flesh without sin. Thereby He took away the envy of the hostile wickedness by the holiness of His life. through His weakness the enemy hoped to be victorious over Him.
Christ also aroused Satan’s envy by His accompanying miracles which He used to strengthen man’s faith in Him as reconciler. Satan, the deceiver, having been deceived, inflicted on Christ, who was unworthy of punishment for sin; that is a very cruel death . Yet the righteousness’ sake — obtained a new righteousness from the enemy of death which was unjustly inflicted upon Him.
Since this death was not incumbent upon Him — For He was without sin — by sharing this victory with sinful man, He absolved the accused through the punishment of His Innocence.
City: PIETA: It is related in the annals of Clairvaux ,(monastic records), that St Bernard asked our Lord which was the Greatest unrecorded suffering, and Our Lord answered: “I had on My shoulder , while I bore the cross on the Way of Sorrows (Via Dolorosa), a grievous Wound not recorded by men. Honor this wound with thy devotion, and I will grant thee whatsoever thou dost ask through its virtue and merit. And in regard to all those who shall venerate this Wound, I will remit to them ALL their venial sins and will no longer remember their mortal sins.” [ City: does my best with a devotion of this following prayer and is the primary purpose for sharing St Bernard of Clairvaux during this Holy week of Via Dolorosa, 2019. If you ever had a shoulder wound, you know how limiting this is for you. Pray the following prayer given to this blessed Saint. (no known indulgence attached other than what is stated. Also confession is still necessary).
Prayer to the Shoulder Wound of Christ
“O Loving Jesus, meek Lamb of God, i a miserable sinner, salute and worship the Sacred Wound of Thy Shoulder on which thou didst bear Thy heavy Cross, which so tore thy flesh and laid bare Thy Bones as to inflict on Thee an anguish greater than ANY other wound of thy Blessed Body. I adore Thee, and give Thee Thanks for this most sacred and painful Wound, beseeching Thee by that exceeding pain, and by the crushing burden of thy heavy Cross to be merciful to me, a sinner, to forgive me all my mortal and venial sins, and to lead me on towards heaven along the Way of Thy Cross. Amen.” [Imprimatur: +Thomas D Beven, Bishop of Springfield.]
