Pentecost, Speaking in Tongues.

Apostle Paul speaks on the Gifts Manifest of the Spirit from Pentecost

If then I know not the power of the voice, I shall be to him to whom I speak a barbarian: and he that speak a barbarian to me. So you also, forasmuch as you are zealous of spirits, seek to abound unto the edifying of the church. (1Cor14:11-12)

Now concerning spiritual things, my brethren, I would not have you ignorant. You know that when you were heathens, you went to dumb idols, according as you were led. (1Cor12:1-2) And no man can say The Lord Jesus, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of graces, but the same Spirit. And there are diversities of ministries. but the same Lord. (1Cor12:4-5)

And God indeed hath set some in the church; first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly doctors: after that miracles: then the graces of healing, helps, governments, kinds of tongues, interpretations of speeches. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all doctors? Are all workers of miracles? Have all the grace of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? (1Cor12:28-30) If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.(1Cor13:1).

St Francis Xavier Edified His Church – preaching in foriegn tongues as opposed to “modern day prattle”!

Pentecost from Acts2:6-7:

During Pentecost, the Paraclete did arrive, alleluia. The gift of tongues, could there be more than one, or is it the same spirit?

When God intervened at the tower of Babel, confusion reigned. While at Pentecost, when the Apostles spoke to these men of Israel, though confounded in mind, “every man heard them in his own tongue.”

Are we to believe, that this great manifestation of tongues has now diabolically morphed into confusion, and utter Babel as if prayer to God is this nonsense. OR has Jesus misled us on how to pray and-worship? “Our Father…” For heavens’ sake NO!

And when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded in mind, because that every man heard them speak in his own tongue. And they were all amazed, and wondered, saying: Behold, are not all these that speak Galilean?

In 20th Century Speaking in Tongues has Morphed into Babel?

NO. It has not. If so, for what purpose, explain to us all, how the church is edified, by this private prayer sung in public by this Pentacostalism / Charismatism?? How is it that all seem to share THIS GIFT. When Paul tells us, “Do all speak in tongues? DO all interpret?” Yet, we are to believe the Spirit manifests, tongues and no one interprets, less they are so bold to lie before God.

1350 St Vincent Ferrer 1419, Gift of Tongues Saint Vincent Ferrer is one of the greatest saints of the Holy Catholic Church. Few saints have been more gifted in speech and none have performed as many miracles. In fact, it was often said that it was ‘a miracle’ if St. Vincent Ferrer did not perform a miracle!

An unknown African describes Tongues in TRUTH, edifying the Church: 6th Century

The Church in its Unity Speaks in the Language of Every Nation:

The disciples spoke in the language of every nation. At Pentecost God chose this means to indicate the presence of the Holy Spirit: whoever had received the Spirit spoke in every kind of tongue. We must realize dear brothers, that this is the same Holy Spirit by whom love is poured out in our hearts. It was love that was to bring the Church of God together all over the world. And as individual men who received the Holy Spirit in those days could speak in all kinds of tongues, so today the Church, united by the Holy Spirit, speaks in the language of every people.

Therefore if somebody should say to one of us, “You have received the Holy Spirit, why do you not speak in tongues?” his reply should be, “I belong to the body of Christ, that is, the church, and she speaks all languages.” What else did the presence of the Holy Spirit indicate at Pentecost, except that God’s Church was to speak in the language of every people?

This was the way in which the Lord’s promise was fulfilled: “No one puts new wine into old wine skins.” (Mt9:17; Mk2:22; Lk5:37) New wine is put into fresh skins, and so both are preserved. So when the disciples were heard speaking in all kinds of languages, some people were not far wrong in saying: They have been drinking to much new wine. The truth is that the disciples had now become fresh wine skins, renewed and made holy by grace. The new wine of the holy Spirit filled them, so that their fervor brimmed over and they spoke in manifold tongues.

By this spectacular miracle they became a sign of the Catholic Church, which embraces the languages of every nation.

Keep the feast, then, as members of the one body of Christ. It will be no empty festival for you if you really live what you are celebrating. For you are the members of that Church which He fills with the Holy Spirit, as She spreads throughout the world.

He is like a bridegroom who never loses sight of his own bride; no one could ever deceive him by substituting some other woman. (“Or False gift”) (Gen 29:25)

Jacob filled with Wine, is deceived , demonic spirit

To you men of all nations, then, who make up the Church of Christ, you, the members of Christ, you, the body of Christ, you, the bride of Christ, – to all of you the Apostle addresses these words: “Bear with one another in love; do all you can to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” ( Eph4:3: Prov 4:3,) Notice that when Paul urges us to bear with one another, he bases his argument on love, and when he speaks of our hope of unity, he emphasizes the bond of peace. This Church is the house of God, built up of living stones, whose master is the almighty God. It is his delight to dwell here. Take care, then, that he never has sorrow of seeing it undermined by schism and collapsing in ruins.

Padre PIO, had the Gift of Tongues, NOT Babel

So dear friends in Christ, the Holy Spirit did not leave us orphans but we discern in “truth”, that scripture boldly defines this gift of Tongues as other languages, not “Babel from of the heavens”. Such gifts were made manifest in the Church for the growth and benefit of the Church. Not for private prayer. Rejoice in the Truth! Rather than dwelling in envy of the demonic.

Glossolalia is from the Greek word γλωσσολαλία, itself a compound of the words γλῶσσα (glossa), meaning “tongue” or “language”[7] and λαλέω (laleō), “to speak, talk, chat, prattle, or to make a sound”. Glossolalia or speaking in tongues is a phenomenon in which people speak in languages unknown to them. One definition used by linguists is the fluid vocalizing of speech-like syllables that lack any readily comprehended meaning.

[8] The Greek expression (in various forms) appears in the New Testament in the books of Acts and First Corinthians. In Acts 2, the followers of Christ receive the Holy Spirit and speak in the languages of at least fifteen countries or ethnic groups. [Pentacostalism, Evegelicalism, twisted these interpretations: of Acts 2,10:46, 19:6,;1Cor12,13,14; that City will not get into here, beyond what was presented “foundational” above!]….

The exact phrase speaking in tongues has been used at least since the translation of the New Testament into Middle English in the Wycliffe Bible in the 14th century. Frederic Farrar first used the word glossolalia in 1879.. [So what does this prove? , clearly all these NEW sources ring true in UN-sound Doctrine?]

Lum, Kathryn Gin; Harvey, Paul (1 March 2018). The Oxford Handbook of Religion and Race in American History. Oxford University Press. p. 801. ISBN 9780190856892. … would prove influential on the development of black Pentecostalism in the early twentieth century, as glossolalia, or speaking in tongues, would be understood as a third work of grace following Holiness and receipt of the Holy Spirit. City of God.Blog ASKS who runs this Oxford UniversityPress?

The Encyclopedia of Christianity. Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. 1999. p.415. ISBN 9789004116955. While in Houston, Texas, where he had moved his headquarters, Parham came into contact with William Seymour (1870-1922), an African-American Baptist-Holiness preacher. Seymour took from Parham the teaching that the baptism of the Holy Spirit was not the blessing of sanctification but rather a third work of grace that was accompanied by the experience of tongues. [Really 20 centuries later, a New Teaching, manifestation and definition….DIABOLIC!]

Thus these give false witness before God, and profane Blasphemy of the Word of God with twisted meanings for their own designs. The Spirit of Truth gave the Spirit of Tongues for the edification of His Church, (see Paul( 1 Cor14:11-12), above) NOT as a a carnal sign of His reality!!!!

“They made of “tongues” a source of schism in the Church and of scandal without (1Cor14:23). [Even then!!]

Faithful adherence to the text of Sacred Scripture makes it obligatory to reject those opinions which turn the charism of tongues into little more than infantile babbling (Eichhorn, Schmidt, Neander), incoherent exclamations (Meyer), pythonic utterances (Wiseler), or prophetic demonstrations of the archaic kind (see 1 Samuel 19:20, 24).

Cast these lies away and seek the Truth. The Spirit of Truth.
